A West Hollywood holiday tradition built on quality

Mr. Greentrees has been providing Los Angeles with fresh Christmas trees and greenery since 1986. It started as a family-owned enterprise, and over the decades we have learned to adapt as we have moved around the city, while keeping the same standards that built our reputation. Everything we carry is carefully hand-selected, from the tallest tree to the smallest ornament, because the details are what separate “fine” from “unforgettable.”

When people show up at our lot, I can usually tell what they care about within the first minute. Families want a tree that feels magical and lasts through the season. Designers want structure, balance, and a silhouette that supports their concept. Decorators and florists want greenery that is full, consistent, and ready for install, not something that looks tired the next day. That is exactly why we focus so hard on sourcing, freshness, and hands-on help.

How to choose the right Christmas tree for your space

A great tree starts with an honest plan. The “perfect tree” is not a universal thing. There is only the tree that is perfect for your home, your project, and your style. Before you arrive, think through height, whether you want a slimmer or fuller profile, and how much room you need for ornaments. Once you have those basics in mind, our team can guide you quickly toward the right fit.

Here are a few practical questions I recommend asking yourself:

    • Do you want a dramatic, full look, or something more sculptural with visible branch structure?
    • Are you decorating with larger statement ornaments, or a lot of smaller pieces?
    • Do you want a tree known for holding needles longer, or are you choosing purely based on the look?
    • Where will the tree live: near sunlight, vents, or a cooler corner of the house?

Those answers help us match you with the variety that makes your decorating easier and your finished room look intentional.

The tree varieties we offer and what each one is best at

We carry a curated set of varieties because each one does something different, and different homes call for different trees. Our sizes vary by variety, and some larger trees are available by special order.

    Nobles (Noble Fir)

Nobles are lush and dense, and they are a classic choice when you want that rich, full holiday look. We list Nobles in the 3 to 18 foot range, with larger sizes available by special order, so they work for everything from apartments to bigger rooms that can handle height. If you want a tree that decorates beautifully and feels like “the centerpiece,” this is often the easiest yes.

    Silvertips

Silvertips are known for shelf-like branches that show off larger ornaments. We list them in the 5 to 13 foot range, and they can look stunning in a space where you want the branch shape to be part of the design, not hidden behind dense foliage. One important note we share openly: Silvertips will drop needles while they continue to drink, so they are a better match for customers who love the look and do not mind a little extra cleanup.

    Douglas Fir

Douglas Fir is light and fluffy, and we describe it as hypoallergenic for sensitive noses. We typically carry Douglas Fir in the 4 to 9 foot range, and it is often a favorite for households who want a softer feel and a classic silhouette without overpowering a smaller room. It is also a solid option for families who want a tree that feels inviting for kids to decorate.

    Nordmann

Nordmann is the strong, sturdy “Nordic” cousin of the Noble Fir, listed in the 6 to 15 foot range. If your priority is structure and a tree that feels robust, this variety is worth a serious look. We also note that Nobles and Nordmanns generally hold onto their needles longer than Silvertips, which matters when you want the tree to look great deeper into the season.

Freshness is a process, not a slogan

One of the biggest differences customers notice at our lot is how fresh everything looks and feels. Our trees are handpicked from family farms in the Pacific Northwest. From the moment they arrive, they are kept in a humidified, temperature-controlled tent and watered constantly to keep them green and fresh until you take them home. That behind-the-scenes care shows up as richer color, better needle retention, and branches that stay resilient while you decorate.

Tree care tips that actually extend the season

Once you get your tree home, the goal is to help it stay hydrated and keep it away from heat. We share straightforward care guidance:

    • Water your tree immediately when it arrives home, check water every day, and never let the bowl go dry.
    • Keep your tree cooler by lowering your thermostat when possible, and keep it away from direct sunlight and heating vents.
    • If you forgot to water right away and the tree is not drinking, a fresh cut can help, and we also share steps for recovery if the base has dried out.

We also answer common questions like “Why is my tree not drinking?” and point customers back to our Tree Care page for the practical fix, including the reality that trees taper off water intake over time or may have been left without water too long.

Wreaths that look custom because they are

Our wreaths are built for people who care about texture, fullness, and a finished look. Our wreath story starts in the Pacific Northwest with thick, lush branches of high mountain Noble Firs. We craft by hand, starting with Noble branches in a wire frame, and our designers can work alongside you to build the wreath you want, whether that means bows, additional greenery, pine cones, lights, or ornaments. We also keep ready-made wreaths available if you want something beautiful and immediate, or if you want inspiration for a custom piece.

If you are selecting wreath sizes, we also share practical sizing guidance for front doors and care tips like keeping wreaths shaded when possible and spraying them down with water to help them stay fresh longer.

Garland that drapes beautifully and is cut to order

Garland is one of those details that instantly changes the feel of a home, especially on stair rails, mantels, and entryways. Our garland is made from cuttings from sustainably farmed trees and handmade in the Pacific Northwest. Everything we offer is freshly made, extra lush, and cut to order, so you can buy exactly what your project needs. We offer Noble, Nordmann, cedar, and mixed garland by the foot, plus 50-foot rolls for larger installs. We can also work with you on custom decorated garland for mantels, doorways, and other focal points.

For care, we recommend keeping garland away from direct sunlight and heat sources, and spritzing frequently to prolong its beauty. We also note that garlands retain even less water than trees, which is why many customers purchase later in the season or trade out mid-season for a fresh refresh.

Greenery for florists, decorators, and anyone building arrangements

If you build arrangements, you already know the difference between “greenery” and truly usable, install-ready greens. Our greenery is fresh, brought in weekly, and most of it is locally sourced and prepared on site. We offer mistletoe by the sprig or as a mistletoe ball, and we sell noble branches directly from our trees by the pound. We also carry holly, cedar, juniper, pine, and multiple sizes of pine cones, with a reminder that mistletoe sells fast and you can call to check availability.

We also share practical greenery care tips, including that cut greenery dries faster than a tree, and that spritzing can extend lifespan (with care around lights and decorations). For mistletoe, we note it can be refreshed by soaking in water overnight.

Flocking and flame-retardant certification for public spaces

If you are decorating a lobby, storefront, or any public-facing space in Los Angeles, requirements matter. We provide flocking to order, and we note that flock typically takes about 48 hours to dry depending on weather and level of flocking. We also apply flame retardant to order (about 30 minutes to dry), and flame-retardant items are tagged with the proper certificates to demonstrate compliance, since trees and greenery displayed in public areas are required to be treated and certified.

For designers and the trade: a straightforward way to work with us

We offer a designer discount to those in the trade with valid resale permits who register their businesses with us. Registration is done in person, including filling out our designer form and providing a hard copy of your resale certificate. Outside of updates if your information changes, it is a one-time process, even if you do not purchase from us every year.

    Delivery and ordering from home

If you want a seamless experience, delivery is a great option, especially for larger trees or multi-item greenery orders. All deliveries are scheduled within a specific three-hour window with no exceptions, and we do not offer or guarantee specific delivery times regardless of requests.

If you prefer to order without coming to the lot, we also offer ways to buy from home, including ordering by phone or email with payment information provided over the phone, and options to have photos sent so you can choose based on your needs.
